2008 in Retrospect

This New Year's Eve is the complete opposite from last year's. I kept it very low key. I'm at work, and we just finished celebrating the welcome of 2009. I have a bunch of awesome coworkers! The Neurologist and I sat with one of my patients and watched the ball drop in Times Square. After greeting them both, i ran out and hugged the rest of the nurses and our assistants, then made a few calls to my loved ones. Then we all chowed down on good food and bubbly. now i'm stuffed like a teddy bear hehe.

Thank goodness the night is quiet *so far*, and i have a little break to reflect on the past year. To sum things up, 2008 was a year of REUNIONS:

In February i flew to Las Vegas and met with one of my best girlfriends, Nikki, whom i haven't seen since college.

In April my cousin, Natasha, from my dad's side visited us after not seeing her in 20 years.

In May(ish) i reunited with MV, and although it lasted just several months, it was good and worthwhile.

My other best girlfriend from California, Rachel, visited us with her new family, and i met my angelic Godson for the first time.

In July i reunited with my love, Goofy, at Disney World =)

In September, after a year of full independence living on my own in Manhattan, i realized i missed my brother and mom, came to my senses about money management, and moved back home.

And the most significant reunion ever in my life: meeting my dad after a 19-year absence on Christmas Day.

The reunions don't end there. Next week i'll be leaving for Savannah to reunite with the rest of my family from my dad's side. I think it's about time for me to catch up on my roots. There's a saying that goes, "You'll never get to where you're going if you don't know where you're coming from." I'm finally finding myself through all these reconnections and the lessons i'm learning from them.

With that said, i think 2009 will bring me Peace and a stronger sense of direction. I thank God for seeing me through the past year. He is so good.
